Rudy Mak, an outsanding supporter of the RCAF, is proudly displaying the CMVU Flag at his office location on Dunlop Street West, Barrie- the old location of 441 (Huronia) Wing RCAFA building within his recently completed parkette in tribute to the RCAF

11 June 2026:

The Independent Order of Odd Fellows Aurora Lodge #148 were presented the Veterans Flag by Ferguson Mobbs. The Lodge completed a full "Flag Ceremony" to accept the Veterans Flag into the Lodge. It is now and will continue to be in its official place on the stage across from the Canadian Flag and behind the Nobel Grand.

20 May 2026 Visit of Ontario Premier Doug Ford to RCL Branch 147 Barrie

Some mebers of the CMVU FLag Project team with Ontario Premier Doug Ford, MPP Doug Downey, MPP Andrea Khanjin and Second World War Veteran, Bill Snow.

Bill Sergeant, Kent Smerdon and Paul Pirie met with Barrie-South Innisfil MP John Brassard on May 11th on invitation to discuss the CMVU Flag project. Kent presented John with a desk flag after a short briefing. John is very supportive and stated that the project had several key elements that would make it a prime candidate for a successful private members bill in the HOC.  He also said that he would be happy to "champion" the idea to other supporter in the House and Senate. A very successful outcome.

Maj (ret) Kent Smerdon CD updating VCB members on the CMVU Flag Project in February 2026

Maj (ret) Kent Smerdon CD and Liz Smerdon presented the first CMVU Flag (Serial # 1) to 16 Wing Commander, Colonel Wes Cunningham CD in honour of his father, Flight  Lieutenant Allan Smerdon, an RCAF pilot during the Second World War at the 102nd RCAF Anniversary Mixed Mess Dinner held at 16 Wing, CFB Borden.
